The XM5s also come with excellent noise cancellation that can be automatically increased to deal with airplanes and commuter voices.
They do an excellent job of cutting down low rumbles from buses and other vehicles, as well as mid and treble range noises like chatter from passengers and the ambient chatter of a busy office. And while they aren't as good at cancelling high frequencies, like the lower bass in Foo Fighters tracks, or the treble in Miles Davis recordings, their performance still far exceeds most other premium headphones.
The XM5s is the most recent version of Sony's WH1000X series and comes with modern design and brand new features. They are now connected via Bluetooth 5.2 which supports audio profiles and dual-device pairing for seamless switching between two mobile devices.
